Bursary and Awards
The IFPA Bursary & Awards Schemes
The IFPA is committed to supporting educational activities for members and does so by awarding grants and scholarship funding. The IFPA also encourages a research culture and through the annual acorn award can support and contribute to the funding of projects. Sources of funding for the award scheme is supported by the generous contributions members make to the Gift Aid. This Gift Aid/Covenant scheme allows IFPA to recoup some tax back from member's subscriptions each year. This does not cost the members at all but does provide additional funds for the IFPA to use.
Types of awards available:
- Grants – smaller amounts of funding is available to support additional course materials should students require this financial help.
- Educational Activities – members who are undertaking voluntary work in aromatherapy may apply for grants in setting up, cost of oils etc., travelling and any other expense incurred. Evidence of this would be a requirement.
- The Annual Acorn Research Award – The award will consist of a monetary sum plus some academic support for a suitable study. Applications will be scrutinised by the Research Chair. Funds will only released on receipt and approval of a sound project proposal. Some larger studies will need additional academic support in the area of practice.
- The Annual Case Study Award – The award will consist of a small monetary sum and publication in the IFPA journal In Essence.
- Other research awards – These may be considered if the project is directly related to enhancing aromatherapy and the profession. These are subject to scrutiny by the research chair.
- Continuing Professional Development – Help may be available to members who are finding CPD financially challenging. It is a 'one off' payment and at the discretion of Council.
