The IFPA accredits full professional programmes and has a duty to ensure recognised standards and parity between our programmes. The IFPA is strongly committed to further the professionalisation of aromatherapy and extend practitioner status.
We also 'approve' CPD providers as CPD is a professional requirement and IFPA approved status helps give our membership some information about available courses.
To give you an idea of the work involved in accreditation this is a taste of what course provdiers have to consider:-
Course content, matched to the IFPA syllabus
The venue, equipment and resources
Staff and tutors
Marketing literature and student handbook
Entry criteria and fees
Hours of study, timetable and structure
Health and safety, hygiene
Equal opportunities, special needs
APL procedures and progression and transferability
Part time and full time routes
Student records and portfolios
How the students will be assessed, coursework, exams and case studies
Accreditation is an ongoing process and there are annual reviews. We also have procedures to implement action plans if changes are needed for a particular training establishment.
To start a school the main person is the IFPA principal tutor - someone who has qualified to IFPA standard and has been in practice for 5 years or more.
If you are interested in setting up an IFPA accredited training school then please do not hesitate to contact the office for further information.
